Tell the story of the Baikal–Amur Mainline (BAM) in a way that immerses users in the atmosphere of the Soviet era and helps them emotionally connect with the scale, ambition, and human stories behind the construction — all while maintaining interest throughout the long-form narrative.
I designed an immersive, editorial-style long-read experience inspired by Soviet avant-garde aesthetics. The result is a bold, rhythmic scroll-based journey where form and content work together to evoke the spirit of the time and the monumentality of the project.
To achieve this, I implemented:
• A dynamic visual language rooted in constructivism and Soviet avant-garde principles
• A clear chronological structure, guiding the reader through different stages of BAM's development
• Custom typography and geometric layouts to create tension, movement, and energy
• Archival imagery, propaganda posters, and interactive maps to support the narrative
• Parallax effects and smooth scroll-triggered transitions to preserve flow and deepen immersion
